Scholarships and financial aid

The annual Wayne State University Scholarship Application period runs from Oct. 1 through March 1. Applicants will be considered for the scholarships listed below, as well as the scholarships available throughout the university, by using just one application.

Departmental scholarships

Clara B. Stoddard Endowed Scholarship

The Stoddard scholarship provides tuition assistance for students interested in working with children's communication problems in public schools.

Joan Cortright Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Joan Cortright Memorial Endowed Scholarship fund was established by family members to honor her memory. Ms. Cortright was a faculty member in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wayne State University from 1999 until her sudden passing in December of 2008. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student.

Sbaschnig Scholarship

The Sbaschnig scholarship recognizes undergraduate or graduate students who are interested in a speech-language pathology career.

Theodore Mandell Scholarship

The Theodore Mandell Alumni Memorial Fund recognizes students interested in public school speech-language pathology or audiology. An award will be given to two students, each in the amount of $500.

Trabman Scholarship

The Trabman scholarship recognizes undergraduate students who are interested in a speech-language pathology or audiology career. An award will be given to four students, each in the amount of $2,000.

CAPCSD scholarship opportunities

Frances J. Laven Service Award

In honor of Frances Laven, this award funds one student in recognition of exemplary student service. The award is intended for graduate students in a professional program, master's SLP, Au.D. or SLPD.

Ph.D. scholarships

These scholarships support Ph.D. students in the dissertation phase of their doctoral program. Applicants must intend to pursue an academic career in CSD.

Plural Publishing research scholarships

These scholarships support graduate students pursuing research in SLP or Au.D. One scholarship is awarded for the Master's/AuD level and one for the doctoral level.
