Urban studies is an interdisciplinary field that examines the dynamics of cities and urban settlements providing in-depth study into how cities and metro areas came to be, how they work (or not), how people and activities relate to each other in urban areas, why some cities thrive while others decline and how to improve urban communities.
The Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies builds an understanding of metropolitan areas that utilize strengths from several social sciences, thereby establishing a firm foundation for multiple careers and further graduate education. The Master of Urban Planning, offered by a faculty recently rated among the best in the nation, offers a challenging, fully accredited curriculum aimed at planning for urban revitalization and sustainability.
