Scholarships and financial aid

The annual Wayne State University Scholarship Application period runs from Oct. 1 through March 1. Applicants will be considered for the scholarships listed below, as well as the scholarships available throughout the university, by using just one application.

Departmental scholarships

American Association of Physics Teachers Award

The American Association of Physics Teachers Award is awarded yearly to outstanding physics graduate student teachers.

Daniel R. Gustafson Graduate Student Teaching Award

The Daniel R. Gustafson Graduate Student Teaching Award is given yearly to the best graduate teaching assistant.

Henry Bohm and Melbourne Stewart Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2011 to commemorate the passing of esteemed colleague and friend Professor Henry Bohm. Full-time or part-time undergraduate students majoring in physics and/or astronomy are eligible to apply.

Robert L. and Sandra E. Thomas Endowed Scholarship

The scholarship in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is awarded once a year to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student majoring in physics or Chinese studies.

Rumble Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded once a year to outstanding graduate students in the department.

Undergraduate Biomedical Physics Scholarship

This scholarship is funded thanks to the generosity of Mr. Richard E. Barber. It is awarded to biomedical physics majors in good academic standing.

Undergraduate Physics and Astronomy Scholarship

This scholarship is funded thanks to the generosity of Dr. William Weihofen and other physics alumni. It is awarded to physics and astronomy majors in good academic standing.

Vaden W. Miles Undergraduate Award

The Vaden W. Miles Undergraduate Award is awarded once a year to outstanding undergraduate students in physics.
