Outreach

Wayne State's Department of Physics and Astronomy has several outreach initiatives including summer camps for middle school science students, open houses for high schoolers and active partnerships with the Detroit Metropolitan Area Physics Teachers organization.

Visitors of all ages surrounding Detroit also come to find inspiration as they explore the cosmos in the Wayne State Planetarium!

Members of our faculty regularly volunteer to share their excitement about physics and astronomy at Detroit Cultural Center institutions such as the Detroit Science Center, math and science centers across the metropolitan area, and more.

We welcome the opportunity to hear your ideas about science outreach activities and invite you to come and see why we love what we do!

Science teachers organizations

We advertise our physics and astronomy programs at conferences for the Michigan Science Teachers Association (MSTA), the Metropolitan Detroit Science Teachers Association (MDSTA), and the Michigan section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (MI-AAPT). In addition, our faculty present exciting topics in physics and astronomy at these science-teacher conferences!

Our faculty proudly support and collaborate with the Detroit Metropolitan Area Physics Teachers.
