Mathematics Resource Center (MRC)
The resource center is a free drop-in tutoring service provided by the Department of Mathematics for Wayne State students enrolled in mathematics classes. We also provide assistance to incoming students as well as alumni that are trying to obtain placement in math courses at the calculus one level and below.
Beginning March 23, 2020, the MRC will offer online tutoring service in Canvas for the remainder of the term as follows:
Monday – Thursday: 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
To request access to our online drop-in tutoring platform, please visit Mathematics Resource Center Online Tutoring and complete the form. We will follow-up with you as soon as possible.
Important: The MRC will be closed during university closures. Make-up days for holidays will not be followed.
Policies when face-to-face tutoring resumes
Signing in and out with one's WSU AccessID is mandatory.
No borrowing of current textbooks.
Electronics may be plugged in for those seated directly next to an outlet as long as their cords do not cause potential tripping hazards.
Food and uncapped beverages are not allowed in the MRC.
Disclaimer: The MRC is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property.
Math majors/minors are encouraged to apply for tutoring positions in the MRC if they have satisfied the following criteria:
- Overall and mathematics GPA of 3.0
- Completed MAT 2020 prior to applying
STEM majors in other areas may apply as well if mathematics is heavily utilized in their area of study, they satisfy the criteria above, and they have a strong background in statistics. However, preference will be given to those that either have a double major or minor in mathematics.
