Mathematics Resource Center (MRC)

The Mathematics Resource Center is a free online drop-in tutoring service provided by the Department of Mathematics for Wayne State students enrolled in mathematics classes. We also assist incoming students and alumni trying to obtain placement in math courses at the calculus one level and below.

Spring/summer hours

The MRC is now closed for the Winter 2021 semester. We will resume operations for our online tutoring services on Zoom for the Spring/Summer 2021 term at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Tentative hours are as follows:

Monday – Thursday:  10 - 9 pm by appointment only

Saturday: 12 - 3 pm by appointment only

Important: The MRC will be closed during university closures and WSU's designated Mental Health Days. Make-up days for holidays will not be followed.

Math majors/minors are encouraged to apply for tutoring positions in the MRC if they have satisfied the following criteria:

  • Overall and mathematics GPA of 3.0
  • Completed MAT 2020 before applying

STEM majors in other areas may apply as well if mathematics is heavily utilized in their field of study, they satisfy the criteria above, and they have a strong background in statistics. However, preference will be given to those that have a double major or minor in mathematics.
