Application for Graduate Funding

Graduate students in the English program who are currently not funded, whose funding will cease at the end of the academic year or who wish to be considered for a dissertation finishing fellowship are invited to apply for funding. This form is not for new applicants to the M.A. or Ph.D. programs in English.

Although the English department may not know exactly what number and types of funding will be available for students, all applicants can be considered for the following funding mechanisms:

  • Graduate teaching assistantships
  • Dissertation finishing fellowships (Ph.D. only)

Students may review the criteria for awards and position descriptions.

If you're a currently funded student unsure of whether your funding will end this academic year, please contact the director of graduate studies or the graduate program specialist for assistance.

Timeline

Applications for (continuing) funding are due each year on Jan. 15.

Please note that Ph.D. students who are awarded funding are limited to a maximum of five years of support for their degree and that those students seeking funding for a fifth year must have an approved prospectus on file before submitting their application. Additionally, students on probation are not eligible to apply for continuing funding or dissertation fellowships.

Fields with asterisks (*) are required.
