Why study English at Wayne State in Detroit?

Our major is flexible, with no one-size-fits-all assumptions. You can take courses across all of our broad and interdisciplinary departmental areas, or choose a more focused path specializing in the area that most interests you. We also offer minors that can help you deepen your focus or gain valuable professional skills. Students in the English department work closely with stellar faculty in small classes and get individualized advising to help navigate the program. Students also participate in department events and lectures, have opportunities for departmental scholarships and awards, publish an undergraduate literary journal, and can be members of several student groups.
