Call for papers

The International Political Science Association (IPSA) will convene its 26th World Congress in Lisbon, Portugal from July 25-29, 2020.

If you wish to participate on Panel 1, Panel 2, or Panel 3 of Research Committee 45 Quantitative International Politics (below), please submit your paper proposal (including title and abstract) online through the IPSA Congress (see Congress & Events tab) as soon as possible.

Topics dealing with war, peace, and international political economy, among others, are welcome.

Also indicate if you wish to serve as a panel chair or discussant.

RC 45 Panel 1: Quantitative Approaches to the Study of Conflict and War

The focus of this panel encompasses the study of all aspects of intra- and inter-state conflict and war by means of quantitative methodologies. Topics include, but are not limited to, domestic political and sectarian violence, revolution, foreign intervention in civil war, foreign policy belligerency, transnational terrorism, and inter-state violence and war.

RC 45 Panel 2: Quantitative Approaches to the Study of Cooperation and Peace

The focus of this panel encompasses the study of all aspects of intra- and inter-state cooperation and peace by means of quantitative methodologies. Topics include, but are not limited to, processes of democratization and economic development, institutionalization, civil-military relations, international mediation, international organization, regional integration, and globalization.

Guidelines for paper proposals

  • The paper title cannot exceed 25 words
  • The abstract must include the research question your paper investigates and a very brief description of the methodological approach? The abstract must not exceed 350 words
  • No individual may make more than one appearance in the program in each of the following categories: chair or co-chair of a panel, paper-giver, discussant
