Professor Petrov elected as an American Physical Society Fellow

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is proud to announce that Professor Alexey Petrov has been elected as an American Physical Society Fellow. Election to Fellowship in the American Physical Society is limited to no more than one-half of one percent of the membership and is recognition by his peers for his outstanding contributions to physics. Professor Petrov is only the 15th fellow at WSU to receive this prestigious honor since it was first awarded in 1921.

The citation, which will appear on Professor Petrov's Fellowship Certificate, will read as follows:

"For contributions to heavy flavor physics, in particular studies of charm quarks and contributions to indirect searches for physics beyond the Standard Model."

His name and Fellowship citation, as well as the others, elected to fellowship this year will be published in an upcoming issue of APS News. It also will appear on the fellowship page of aps.org. Professor Petrov will be presented a fellowship certificate at the annual meeting of the unit through which he was elected.
