How to find a summer language course in Germany

University courses

German universities offer excellent summer programs at an affordable cost. Courses are usually four weeks in length, and options include language courses at various levels as well as courses in literature and culture and other focused areas, such as business or the European Union.

Search for summer courses at German universities by visiting DAAD. Use the DAAD Summer Course Search Engine to find a course that matches your interests. Wayne State students have participated in summer courses at the following universities: Berlin, Cologne, Essen, Freiburg im Breisgau, Munich and Weimar.

Goethe Institut courses

The Goethe Institut offers summer language courses of various lengths in 13 German cities.

Visit Goethe Institut and search for "German courses in Germany." To find dates, search for "Download Brochures" and select the Course Calendar PDF.

DAAD University summer course grant

Generous scholarships from the DAAD are available for summer courses at German universities. Visit the DAAD for details and take note of the early application deadline: December 15th for the summer of the following year!

Concordia scholarship for study abroad
