Women and malnutrition: A study of how malnutrition affects women in Kabale, Uganda
The 2016 GROW team, which includes Cheryl Baraza, Evan Barnett, Hannah Howarth, and Aryana Sharrak will interview 20 women from Nangara in order to gain an understanding of their daily lives, how their lives affect their family members' lives, and how their lifestyles indirectly affect the nutritional health of the family.
The interviews will allow us to see where changes could be made in order to improve Kigezi Healthcare Foundation's (KIHEFO's) community health interventions. The students of GlobeMed at Wayne State University have partnered with KIHEFO in Kabale, Uganda to support nutritional projects and sustainable agriculture. The partnership has been ongoing since GlobeMed was founded at Wayne State in 2012.
KIHEFO is a local non-profit that was founded in 2000 to address the growing problem of poor nutrition in Uganda's Kabale District. This research is supported by a RISE Scholarship and UROP grant from Wayne State University.
