Dr. Stillo participates in Bangkok workshop to share knowledge of TB care
Assistant Professor of Anthropology Jonathan Stillo participated in a workshop in Bangkok and had the first meeting with students from Partners in Health Engage chapter of which he is faculty advisor.
The Bangkok meeting focused on access to medicines, intellectual property, human rights law and brought together over 50 people from around the world including former and current HIV, TB, and Hep C patients, activists, clinicians, lawyers, etc all of whom work on one of the three diseases or on issues of IP or human rights. Dr. Stillo provided the group with an understanding of the current standards of care for drug susceptible and drug resistant TB and placed the standards in the context of WHO ethics guidance and international human rights law (the right to health and the right to science)
