Archaeology students perform airborne Light Detection and Ranging imagery of Montserrat
Anthropology students Athena Zissis and Brendan Doucet have been awarded funding from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) during the winter 2015 season.
Supervised by Dr. Krysta Ryzewski, Caribbean archaeologist and assistant professor of anthropology, Athena and Brendan will be conducting archaeological research using airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) imagery of the Caribbean island of Montserrat.
Their objectives will be to identify and analyze the LiDAR data to expose evidence of cultural landscape modifications and settlement remains spanning the time from the European arrival to the island in 1632 until the early 20th century.
