Anthropology student wins undergraduate essay competition award

Sarah Carson, an undergraduate student in anthropology, has been awarded the Society for Linguistic Anthropology's 2013 Undergraduate Student Essay Competition prize.

Ms. Carson's paper 'Black Nerds in the Media: A Linguistic Analysis', written under the direction of Dr. Stephen Chrisomalis, was one of two papers nationwide to receive this prestigious award. She will be receiving the award at the American Anthropological Association meetings in Chicago in November.
