Who should/how do I declare my major/minor?
Declaring a major helps you and your departmental advisor create the shortest path to graduation, saving you time and money. Once you declare a major, you could qualify for departmental scholarships.
⚠️ Important: You must declare a major in order to graduate. Pre-professional programs are not degree programs.
To declare or change a minor or co-major, contact an advisor.

How do I register for classes?
Before you register for classes you should:
- Review your degree requirements to see what you need to take to complete your program. You may wish to meet with your program's academic advisor for advice on which courses you need to take to fulfill the Wayne State general education requirements, the college's requirements and your degree requirements.
- Check the Schedule of Classes to see what is being offered. Write down the CRN for each course you wish to register for.
- Log in into Academica and go to the Student tab. Under the Registration section on the left, click "Register/Add/Drop."

- Review your degree requirements to see what you need to take to complete your program. How can I obtain a copy of my syllabus from a previous class?
For the latest syllabi, visit the Course Information Matrix (CIM).
Copies of syllabi from earlier years may be obtained directly from the course instructor and at their discretion. Visit our college faculty directory to contact your original course instructor for more information.

How do I appeal a grade?
Basic criteria and grounds for appeal
- Formal grade appeals can only be made regarding final grades in a course. For appealing a grade in an exam or assignment, please talk to your instructor.
- Formal grade appeals can only be made within 30 calendar days of the official notification of your grade in a course.
- Formal grade appeals can only be made on the following grounds: (a) the application of non-academic criteria in the grading process, as listed in the university’s nondiscrimination/affirmative action statute: race, color, sex (including gender identity), national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, familial status, marital status, height, weight, disability, or veteran status; (b) sexual harassment or discrimination; or (c) evaluation of student work by criteria not directly reflective of performance relative to course requirements.
