WSU's undergraduate psychology program ranked among the best in the nation
Wayne State University’s undergraduate psychology program has been ranked among the top 100 in the nation, once again securing the 98th spot in U.S. News & World Report’s Best College rankings, which were released on Sept. 24. The annual survey — aimed to guide prospective students and their families — evaluated 1,500 universities and colleges, using 17 measures of academic quality in its assessment.
The recognition comes as the Department of Psychology celebrates its 100th anniversary during the 2024-2025 academic year, marking a century of academic excellence, strong research and student success.
“This ranking is a testament to the dedication and passion of our faculty, staff, and students," said Scott Bowen, chair of the Department of Psychology. "As we celebrate our department’s 100th year, this accolade underscores our continued commitment to providing a world-class education and preparing students for meaningful contributions in psychology."
Adding to this accomplishment, Wayne State itself has made significant strides, ranking among the top 100 public universities in the country for the first time. The university's new No. 97 ranking marks an impressive 12-spot improvement from last year.
These achievements, alongside the department’s century-long legacy, further solidify its reputation as a leader in both undergraduate and graduate education. As a result, Wayne State continues to strengthen its position as a hub for psychological research and learning.
