Professor Brady Baybeck selected for Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award

Associate Professor Brady Baybeck has been selected as the recipient of a 2021 Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award. His students and faculty colleagues welcome this well-deserved recognition.

Baybeck is an exemplary teacher in the graduate programs in political science. He regularly teaches PS 7330, the public budgeting and finance course that is required of all graduate students in the master of public administration program; PS 7240, the urban public policy course that is required of doctoral students with major fields in public policy and urban affairs; and PS 5630, a required core course in statistics and data analysis for all M.A. and Ph.D. students in political science. He has directed five Ph.D. dissertations and served on five Ph.D. committees since 2010. Due to Baybeck's guidance and instruction, these students have taken positions at prestigious universities and organizations around the country, including the National Institutes of Health, Auburn University and Fairfield University.

Baybeck was appointed director of the graduate program in public administration in 2011. As a result of his outstanding performance in the role, he was reappointed to a second three-year term in 2014. During his six years in this position, Baybeck worked to revise program recruitment materials and supervised the execution of a more aggressive recruitment plan.

For his selfless commitment to graduate students in the Department of Political Science and his devotion to the success of the M.P.A. program, Baybeck was the ideal choice for the 2021 Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award.
