Meet writing and media intern, Rilee Meyers
Wayne State's Department of English welcomes our newest writing and media intern, Rilee Meyers. Rilee is a senior graduating in Winter 2021 with her Bachelor of Arts in English and a Minor in Creative Writing. After having a passion for writing and reading as a teen, she knew she would pursue this academic path even before she transferred to Wayne State in 2019.
Rilee’s love for literature was spurred by the seemingly endless number of eBooks available in the digital era. She is excited to learn all she can at this internship and take that knowledge with her as she pursues a career in professional writing and marketing.
The art of storytelling is a fascinating subject to Rilee. She believes stories have the power to make a lasting impact, which is why she has been attempting to write her own fiction ever since she was young. In 2019 and 2020, Rilee published her poetry and a short story in Patterns, St. Clair County Community College’s literary and artistic student magazine. She hopes to build off that experience and her many creative writing classes to accomplish her goal of getting a larger story written and published in the near future.
Rilee is looking forward to telling the story of the department, its faculty, and its students. If you have ideas for stories, people who should be featured, or Wayne State events to be publicized, please send them to Interim Associate Chair Jaime Goodrich who will pass them to Rilee.
