Wayne State was represented at the first annual conference of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP) at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with papers by renee c. hoogland on "Ethics, Aesthetics, and the Arts of the Present" and Barrett Watten on "Toward a Theory of Sampling: The Social Construction of Difficult Texts" and "Presentism and Periodization in Language Writing, Conceptual Art, and Conceptual Writing."
