Two English faculty members receive CLAS Teaching Awards
Two faculty members in the Department of English have received the 2021 CLAS Teaching Awards, which honor extraordinary achievements in teaching within Wayne State's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Amy Latawiec (senior lecturer) is an innovator both in the classroom and in curricular design. Her work in teaching developmental writing in ENG 1010 has positively impacted students across the university, who view her as a role model, mentor and ally.
Peter Staroverov (assistant professor) has reconfigured ENG/LIN 2720, a key gen ed course in linguistics, with a groundbreaking interactive format. He foregrounds student-centered and research-based pedagogy in his courses, inspiring students at all levels of the curriculum.
