Post-doc in rhetoric and writing studies

Wayne State University's Department of English invites candidates for a 12-month post-doctoral fellow position in rhetoric and writing studies beginning in fall 2023.

The area(s) of research specialization are technical communication, community literacy and/or first-year writing. The teaching load is 0:1 in the first year and 1:1 in the second and third years. This position is one of several under the inaugural Wayne State University Pathway to Faculty Program which includes structured mentoring, resources for the establishment of an independent research program and the support of a community committed to equity and inclusion.

Professionals in the field, both internal to and external to Wayne State, will provide mentoring to help the candidate develop a sustainable research agenda. Following the successful completion of the three-year pre-faculty fellowship, the position will transition into a tenure-track assistant professorship in the department for a minimum of two years. The teaching load during the tenure-track appointment will be 2-2 in undergraduate and graduate courses. A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field is required at the time of appointment as a pre-faculty fellow.
