English professors receive 2022 Career Development Chair awards

Two professors in the Department of English have been awarded 2021-2022 Career Development Chairs, which support post-tenure research with a semester of leave and research funds.

Natalie Bakopoulous, associate professor, won the CDC for her novel-in-progress, "Kaleidoscope," which brings together labor studies, immigration and musicology to weave a narrative about Greek immigration to the United States during the 20th century. An ambitious and formally daring project, the finished novel will explore the complexities of memory and time.

Elizabeth Evans, associate professor, will be completing a co-authored book entitled "Gender and Literary Geography," which blends computational analysis and close reading to shed new light on British and Anglophone literature over the past three centuries. With her collaborator Matthew Wilkens, Professor Evans will provide a new model for thinking about women's relationship to metropolitan spaces.
