English professor receives Murray Jackson Award

Natalie Bakopoulous, associate professor, has received this year's Murray E. Jackson Scholar in the Arts Award, which provides a year of teaching release so that the recipient can pursue creative work to enrich the Wayne State campus and the Detroit community. Bakopoulos will use the Murray Jackson Award to research and write her third novel, Kaleidoscope, which explores the Greek American community against the backdrops of Detroit and Greece. In addition to undertaking archival and site research on the Greek immigrant experience, she plans to host a series of public conversations with recently published authors. Congratulations to Professor Bakopoulos!
