English professor receives Clark/Oakley Humanities Fellowship
Jonathan Flatley, professor, has received the 2022-23 Clark/Oakley Humanities Fellowship at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA.
This residential fellowship supports scholars who pursue an interdisciplinary approach to the visual arts and Professor Flatley will be working on a book project about liking and being like trees. Spanning different media forms, genres and national traditions, Flatley's monograph will consider the similarities between humans and trees in order to offer new ways of thinking about forests and ecosystems.
This project is especially timely given the catastrophic effects of deforestation on our world.
