English doctoral candidate awarded research fellowship

Kelly Plante, a doctoral candidate in English, and Karenza Sutton-Bennett, a doctoral candidate at the University of Ottawa, have been awarded the Canadian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies D. W. Smith Eighteenth-Century Research Fellowship for their proposed digital edition of Charlotte Lennox's periodical, Ladies Museum (1760-61).

Although Lennox is primarily known today for her novel The Female Quixote (1752), her periodical remains unedited and inaccessible without subscriptions to library databases. Plante and Sutton-Bennett will use the funding to produce an open-access edition of Lennox's periodical, complete with notes, biographical materials, and other pedagogical resources.
