WSU Criminology and Criminal Justice 2021 Virtual Career Fair

Career fair instructions

Date: Tuesday, April 13, 2021
Time: 1 to 5 p.m. (Pick a time slot for one-on-one conversations or group sessions with agencies and companies.)
Location: Virtual Career Fair, via Handshake
Who: All students and alumni

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice invites employers from various industries to our virtual career fair to recruit WSU students and alumni for career opportunities and internships. Students and alumni from all majors are invited to participate. If you are seeking a full-time job, internship, co-op or part-time experience, this event is for you. Sign up for a virtual time slot to talk one-on-one with the employers of your choice or sign up for various group sessions to learn more about what employers have to offer and various career pathways. Present yourself virtually and professionally to potential employers, networking and highlighting your skills.

Sign up on Handshake (required)

Important: Each company has time slots available for students to register and learn about that entity and its available opportunities. You must sign up for a time slot to chat with your employers of choice. You also must show up for your selected time slot. Your schedule of registered sessions is available in Handshake and it includes the meeting link.

During the career fair, we will have a help desk available in case you are having trouble. The Help Desk will be available from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. The information on the link will be sent once you register.

Event instructions

  1. Search for WSU Criminology and Criminal Justice 2021 Virtual Career Fair on Handshake.
  2. Review available individual or group sessions that companies are hosting.
  3. Sign up for time slots with the companies that interest you. Reference your schedule in Handshake.
  4. Attend the virtual meetings you signed up for via Handshake.

Pro tips to prepare for the virtual career fair

  • Review the list of participating employers through Handshake - sign up for each one you want to talk with
  • Set yourself reminders including the company name and time you will be speaking with them
  • Update your resume or have it reviewed by a Career Services professional
  • Upload your final resume onto Handshake and feature it/make it visible on your profile
  • If you've signed up for one-on-one meetings, prepare yourself to have 5-10 minute conversations, via video chat, about your education, experiences and skills
  • Make sure you dress professionally for the virtual career fair. Employers will see you
  • Don't forget to ask for an email address or a LinkedIn request during your conversation so you can follow up
  • Complete a tech check prior to the event with your video and microphone
