Criminal justice alumni reconnect at first networking event in over a decade
Wayne State's Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice hosted its first alumni gathering in more than a decade on Nov. 21, 2024, at Elephant and Co., a cozy venue known for its inviting atmosphere and exceptional food.
The event provided an opportunity for graduates to reconnect and reflect on shared experiences, a crucial step in rebuilding community ties that were disrupted during the pandemic. Alumni highlighted how planned events like this make it easier to stay in touch and rekindle connections post-graduation.
Guests mingled in a private bar space, exchanging stories about favorite classes, influential professors and the lasting impact of their time in the program. Many shared how their education shaped their careers and personal growth, fostering an engaging environment for reminiscing and networking.
The consensus among attendees was clear: alumni events like this should happen more often. Organizers hope these gatherings will strengthen existing bonds and spark new relationships among graduates in the field of criminology and criminal justice.
Plans are already underway for future events aimed at uniting the department’s alumni network. Graduates interested in contributing to or participating in upcoming opportunities are encouraged to reach out to the criminal justice department.
For those who attended, the night marked a promising step toward a more connected and active alumni community.
