Cracking the cold case
Wayne State University students sharpened their investigative skills this summer by participating in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice's inaugural Cold Case Workshop. The program provided hands-on experience with unsolved crimes, offering valuable career insights to those involved.
The workshop featured guidance from Dr. Felicia George, a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience at the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. George, who also teaches "Introduction to Criminal Justice and Race, Crime and Justice" at Wayne State, encouraged students to approach investigations creatively and think critically while solving cases.
Participants applied their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, gaining a deeper understanding of investigative techniques and the complexities of the criminal justice system. The program aimed to make learning both engaging and meaningful while contributing to the broader goal of seeking justice for unresolved cases.
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice plans to host additional workshops and events featuring experts in the field, offering students further opportunities to apply their criminology knowledge in practical settings.
