Wayne State congratulates Dr. Barraza on his thesis defense
Ramiro Barraza, of the Allen Research Group, successfully defended his thesis: "Influence of Ligands on the Photophysical Properties of Lanthanides for Visible-Light-Promoted Photochemical Reactions," on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Wayne State University.
His work, which focused on lanthanide chemistry, was completed under the direction of Matt Allen (advisor). His thesis committee consisted of his advisor, Jeremy Kodanko, Aaron Rury, and Nathaniel Szymczak (University of Michigan). Ramiro came to Wayne State University in 2017 from the Baxter Lab at the University of California, Merced, an organic chemistry research group, where he did research on C-H activation as an undergraduate.
In early 2023, he will begin a new job at Gilead.
