Chemistry Ambassadors reach Detroit youth
During the 2021-22 academic year, the Department of Chemistry's Undergraduate Recruiting Committee (URC) helped ring in a new era of recognizing student excellence by selecting three outstanding undergraduates - Zoee Harris, Vince Pallo and Justin Ahrens - as Chemistry Ambassadors. These individuals represent the achievements within reach of Wayne State chemistry students through their dedication to learning.
The URC planned, facilitated and carried out the department's participation in July's 2022 Metro Detroit Youth Day on Belle Isle, which brought together local kids for a day of hands-on activities and musical performances. Department members conducted interactive demonstrations of vinegar-baking soda volcanos, "elephant toothpaste"and the Mentos challenge. Students were featured on the front page of WSU's Today@Wayne newsletter to highlight their impact on local kids.
