Ph.D. candidate earns appointment at Illinois State University

Charles BellThe Department of Sociology is proud to congratulate Ph.D. candidate Charles Bell for accepting an offer as an assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Illinois State University.

In addition to a substantial list of previously earned awards, Charles was recently awarded the 2017 Ruth D. Peterson Fellowship for Racial and Ethnic Diversity by the American Society of Criminology.

His research and teaching background focuses on African American perceptions of school discipline. Beginning in the fall semester of 2018, he will begin teaching courses on race and crime at Illinois State University.
