Navkiran Pal Kaur successfully defends sociology doctoral dissertation

Sociology Ph.D. student Navkiran Pal Kaur successfully defended her dissertation, "We are a Volunteering Religion: A Qualitative Study of Second Generation Sikhs' Volunteering Practices in Southeastern Michigan" at a public examination on March 24, 2014.

Navkiran's research was supervised by her advisor, Dr. Heather E. Dillaway, associate professor of sociology. Her committee members also included Dr. Ronald E. Brown, associate professor of political science, Dr. R. Khari Brown, associate professor and director of graduate studies of sociology and Dr.Krista Brumley, assistant professor of sociology.
