Faculty position: Non-tenure track assistant professor (teaching)
The Department of Sociology invites applications for a non-tenure track assistant professor (teaching) position. We seek an active and engaged colleague who can complement current department focus areas of race, ethnicity and gender; sociology of health and illness; and global, transnational and comparative sociology. We are particularly interested in candidates whose professional interests intersect with department focus areas.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated competence or potential to teach courses across the sociology curriculum and will teach introductory, elective and seminar courses, primarily at the undergraduate level and primarily on the Wayne State campus. Candidates may participate in curriculum development and may propose new courses that align with their substantive area of expertise. Candidates are also expected to perform service on department, college and university committees; participate in departmental activities; serve their profession and/or community partners (if appropriate); and complete other related duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely aligned field by August 15, 2023, for a position starting in fall 2023 semester. The department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the academic community's diversity and excellence at Wayne State University.
