Why did you choose public health as a degree of study at Wayne State University?
I chose public health as a degree of study at Wayne State University because I was interested in helping communities and populations that were vulnerable to poverty and its impact on their health.
What career or education path did you pursue after completing the program?
The career path I pursued after completing the program is working for health insurance as a health advocate. The education path I pursued after completing the program is a Master of Public Administration and Policy (MPAP) at The University of Michigan – Dearborn.
How did the public health major prepare you for success after graduation?
The public health major prepared me for success after graduation by opening my eyes to preventative health and how health literacy can make a difference in community health. I was able to incorporate my degree with my current position, which I plan to grow in while furthering my education on public health and public administration and policy.
What advice would you give to current students to ensure they make the most out of their public health experience?
The advice I would give to current students to ensure they make the most out of their public health experience is to communicate with professors and class cohorts. It is important to understand and apply what you are learning into the world because you will be able to change lives one day with your public health degree.
