See Diversity of graduate faculty among the best, further improvement a priority.
Mellon Foundation initiative
This initiative expands knowledge about Black studies, including the impact of race, racism, inequality and struggles for equality and justice.
Both hiring initiatives are ongoing multiple-year cluster-hire programs designed to recruit for dozens of newly created positions across the university. Please note: Interest is encouraged from scholars who hold degrees in social and/or personality psychology and whose research interests are aligned with the goals of the initiatives, as well as across seniority status (i.e., pre-tenure and post-tenure).

Our dynamic community includes nearly 27,000 students from diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds who hail from every U.S. state and nearly 80 countries. The Department of Psychology is one of the largest and most vibrant departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with Ph.D. programs in social-personality psychology, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, developmental science and industrial/organizational psychology. There is excellent collaboration among faculty within the department, as well as with other academic units, research institutes, the medical school and affiliated hospitals. The department has facilities for research and applied work in several buildings on campus and typically receives $3 to 4 million in grants and contracts annually.
The psychology department is committed to building and sustaining the diverse and inclusive learning and work environment that is integral for excellence in research, teaching, and service. We are especially committed to increasing representation of those populations historically underrepresented in U.S. higher education.
Letters of interest are encouraged from women, people of color and other underrepresented people. WSU is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer that complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action. WSU is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all persons regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, disability or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
Correspondence expressing interest in either initiative, along with a current C.V., should be directed to Dr. Tim Bogg (tbogg@wayne.edu), chair of the Social-Personality Area in the Department of Psychology.
Letters of interest will be considered throughout 2023.
