Samuele Zilioli: new assistant professor

By Samuele Zilioli

I joined the Department of Psychology at Wayne State University as an assistant professor in August 2016, after spending two years as a postdoctoral fellow in the same department.

Before joining Wayne State University, I was at Simon Fraser University, where I completed my Ph.D. My training is in biological and health psychology, with specific knowledge and expertise in the relationships between psychosocial and physiological stress.

My work specifically focuses on the consequences of interpersonal stressful interactions and relationships on endocrine and immune function, posing particular attention on socioeconomic status and racial/ethnic health disparities.

I am thrilled to be part of the Department of Psychology. I particularly enjoy being surrounded by brilliant and helpful colleagues and motivated students. I am also excited about the collaborative and supportive climate in the department, and the university makes it an ideal research environment for junior faculty like myself.

I look forward to training new graduate students in the Biopsychosocial Health Lab and expanding my contribution to the educational mission of the department by teaching to undergraduate students.
