Ofen Lab participates in STEM Day

The Ofen Lab participated the STEM day hosted by Wayne State on March 14th, together with other faculty and volunteers from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education, and College of Engineering.

This event aims to expand STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) studies experience of 6th- to 9th-grade students, by providing hands-on, interactive activities covering a range of STEM studies. It was a great turn-out and 1000 middle school students were on Wayne State campus for the event.

The Ofen Lab hosted the two Psychology sections titled, "Inside the Brain of a Cognitive Neuroscientist" and "Investigating Brain at Work". We designed hands-on activities to demonstrate concepts and knowledge about the brain, e.g., automated brain processes, semantic networks, sensory perception and brain organization, visual illusion, etc.

Four graduate students (Roya Homayouni, Qin Yin, Lingfei Tang, and Qiijng Yu), two undergraduate students (Mo Malik, Salma Hassanieh) volunteered to participate as instructors and greatly contributed to the success of this great event.
