Braciszewski 2009 recipient of APA award

We are very pleased to announce that 5th year clinical graduate student, Julie Braciszewski, is receiving a very high honor. She is the 2009 recipient of the American Psychological Association / APAGS Award for the Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology. This award is given to only one graduate student across the nation each year and is very prestigious. Julie is being recognized for her clinical work and development of methods to increase service provision and availability for high risk, urban, African American children. Her work advocates a recursive relationship between, and integration of, research and practice to maximize resource efficiency, knowledge, and efficacy in the provision of health services for the underserved. Julie will receive the award during a formal presentation at the APA/American Psychological Foundation (APF) Awards ceremony at the 2009 APA Convention, held in, Toronto, Ontario, August 6-9. (The award includes all expenses paid and a $1,000 honorarium!) She will make a 1-minute acceptance speech at that time, and she also is invited to make a 50-minute award address as part of the regular APA Convention program. Then, Julie's award citation, biography, picture, and bibiography will be published in full in the November 2009 Awards issue of the American Psychologist. (See the November 2008 issue for what I am talking about). We are extraordinarily proud of Julie and her accomplishment. We also congratulate Doug Barnett, her advisor, who nominated her. Thanks also for helping our program, department, and university shine in the national spotlight! Way to go, Julie!
