Wayne State introduces new online M.A. in Environmental Science
Developed to accommodate the next generation of environmental leaders and policymakers, Wayne State University now offers a fully online Master of Arts in Environmental Science (MA-ES).
This truly interdisciplinary program immerses students in the study of conservation, coastal and environmental geology, water quality and emerging contaminants among other critical topics.
WSU students gain a competitive edge with the addition of coursework in Big Data analytics, ecotoxicology, climate science, environmental isotope geochemistry and remote sensing.
"Every aspect of human lives - from health to economics- depend on healthy ecosystems," said Donna Kashian, WSU's director of environmental science. "Through rigorous science-based course work, this program will help train our next generation of environmental science leaders."
By taking just two courses per semester, year-round, MA-ES students can complete their masters in less than two years. Additionally, students can choose to spread the classes out and complete them at a pace complementary to their lives. Students in the online master's program enjoy the benefit of basic in-state tuition, regardless of the state in which they reside.
What's more, each course is taught by academic and industry leaders at Michigan's only urban research university.
The new MA-ES will instill the knowledge future leaders need to influence policies and practices that address complex environmental challenges. From understanding pathogen transmission to climate change, students will become adept at advocating for environmental justice in Michigan and beyond.
