Professor Daphne W. Ntiri receives Fulbright Award

Daphne W. Ntiri, professor of Africana studies, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso for the 2015 winter academic semester, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently. Her scholarship will include teaching and lectures on African studies and research on adult education and literacy.

Ntiri is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program in 2014-2015. Ntiri has worked locally, nationally and internationally in the field of adult education/adult literacy for more than 30 years. She served as consultant to the United Nations in field assignments on literacy in France, Senegal and Somalia.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, a division of the Institute of International Education and operates in over 155 countries worldwide.
