Physics professor receives Intensity Frontier Fellowship

Professor Alexey A. Petrov has received a 2014 Intensity Frontier Fellowship and 2014 URA Visiting Scholar Award.

Intensity Frontier Fellowships are awarded "to outstanding researchers in the areas of neutrino physics, muon physics, and other topics in the Intensity Frontier." Fellows will receive funding to allow enhanced participation in Fermilab experimental and data analysis efforts, in relevant areas of particle physics theory, or in future projects.

He also received a 2014 URA Visiting Scholar Award. This competitive Award recognizes the accomplishments of university researchers at Fermilab and helps support their work. The URA Visiting Scholars Program at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory was established in 2007 as a five-year program to support visits by researchers from the Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) institutions to work at Fermilab for periods of up to one year in areas such as high energy physics experiments, astrophysics, theory, accelerator physics, materials science, and computer science.

Professor Petrov will use these awards to conduct research at Fermi National Accelerator Lab in Batavia, IL in fall 2014. He will collaborate with local theorists on solving problems related to physics of Dark Matter, neutrinos and heavy quarks.
