Meet Fatima Yahya: CLAS representative on the WSU Student Senate

Dear CLAS Warriors,

Happy fall! Whether it is your first semester at Wayne State or you’re returning for the fall, I wish you an ecstatic and successful semester.

My name is Fatima Yahya, a senior in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. With special gratitude to your votes, I was elected to serve as your Student Senate representative of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). There has been a huge gap over the years between our student senate representatives and our student body, and many don’t even know what we do as student representatives. The Student Senate serves as the student government body of our university. We discuss a variety of issues that range from tuition costs to providing free parking passes for our students. My specific role in representing CLAS places me in the position to become an asset to you all.

What this means is that I am here to serve each of you. Any issues that you may face, which you may have not found a way out of, or perhaps reached dead-ends, or were not able to adequately address, even questions that may have gone unanswered, I am here to do my best in addressing. I will connect you with resources you may not have known existed, I will do my best to relay your concerns to our administration, I will provide you with opportunities to enrich your experience as a Wayne State Warrior, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that you thrive at our university. Whether you are looking for research opportunities that you may need help finding, or you simply need a listening ear, I hope to be an asset to you who will dedicate her time and efforts in your service.

You can reach me at any time of day through fatimayyahya@wayne.edu and I will be here in any way I can be. Additionally, if there are any thoughts/questions/concerns that came to your mind as of now, you can relay them through this form and I will be happy to reach out to you.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Thank you,

Fatima Yahya
