Farmers Market Spotlight: Mystic Kettle

Kettle korn stand with workers making kettle korn

What started out as a part-time weekend job for Randy and Larry Lipman in 2010, has morphed into a company with several employees. The couple always enjoyed kettle corn and noticed the void after attending several community events and farmers markets.

With increased demand since their launch, the couple has been able to expand their business. The product is produced with all Michigan-sourced ingredients, such as non-GMO corn.

Come by the Wayne State Farmers Market on a Wednesday between June and October to see the mystic kettle at work! After placing the kernels in hot oil, the Lipmans add Michian beet sugar that caramelizes naturally and binds to the surface of the kernels. They then filter out the unpopped kernels and crumbs and lightly salt the mushroom-style kernels.

In addition to their individual bags of kettle-corn, they also have two-gallon tins available for any occasion, from holidays to a simple thank you; these tins are perfect gifts.
