Farmers Market Spotlight: Brooklyn Street Local
Brooklyn Street Local, a brunch-and-lunch restaurant, was birthed from a vision to open a restaurant that featured fresh, locally sourced, organic ingredients, using environmentally sustainable practices. Deveri Gifford and Jason Yates moved from Toronto to Detroit in 2012, to open the restaurant after falling in love with Detroit's urban gardening scene and sense of community.
Today, they offer local, seasonal, organic ingredients sourced from urban farms in Detroit. Some of their suppliers and partners are Avalon International Breads, Brother Nature Produce, Eden Foods, Food Field, Great Lakes Coffee Roasting, Intu Teas, and Sunrise Acres Farm.
Brooklyn Street Local is dedicated to serving good, honest food in an environment that is warm, relaxed and welcoming that treats every customer like a friend. They utilize composting and recycling to decrease their environmental footprint.
The restaurant is located at 1266 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI. They are closed on Mondays, and open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
