Mathematics professor awarded honorary doctorate degree
Professor Steve Kahn was awarded an honorary doctorate by Oakland University at OU's commencement ceremony in April 2022. This award coincides with the opening of a second Math Corps summer camp at OU.
Math Corps is a mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for middle school and high school students, co-founded by Professor Kahn (with WSU's Len Boehm) in 1991. The program brings together middle school, high school, and college students in a mathematics learning environment with high standards. Math Corps has a long history of success and has been especially positive for at-risk students in Detroit, and in 2016, the National Science Foundation awarded Math Corps a large grant to replicate its summer program on a nationwide scale.
More information about Professor Kahn's recognition from OU is available on OU's website, here: 2022 OU Commencement.
Congratulations to Professor Kahn on the honors from Oakland University, and on the continued success and expansion of Math Corps!
