Congratulations Dr. Yin
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Peimeng Yin has accepted a research-track assistant professor position with the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas. Dr. Yin had been working as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor and Chair Hengguang Li's numerical analysis and scientific computing research group at Wayne State University. He had been in that role the past two years. In addition to conducting research, Dr. Yin taught courses for the department.
During his time in our department, Dr. Yin's main work centered on higher order numerical methods (e.g., finite element method (FEM), meshes generation) for partial differential equations with singularities, including Poisson equation, biharmonic equation, sixth-order elliptic equation (triharmonic equations) and Stokes equation, etc. As a result of this research, Dr. Yin had several published papers and with a few more submitted for publication.
The training he received at Wayne State is very relevant to his new position. He will work on numerical methods for clinical problems of cancer radiotherapy, which entails higher order numerical methods (e.g., FEM, discontinuous Galerkin method), meshes generation in a complex or singular domain/geometry, and some other skills.
Dr. Yin's postdoctoral position at Wayne State University was supported, in part, by Professor Li's National Science Foundation Grant DMS-1819041 and by the Wayne State University Faculty Competition for Postdoctoral Fellows Award.
We are proud of Dr. Yin and wish him well on his new position!
