AMS Problem Solving Competition runs at WSU

The American Society for Mathematics is hosting The Problem Solving Competition this semester for more than 600 colleges and universities across the U.S., including Wayne State University. The competition is open to all undergraduates and consists of three different problems.

Paper copies are also available in room 1150 of the Faculty/Administration Building, the Department of Mathematics' main office. We anticipate that the competition continues next semester with a new set of problems.

Solutions are to be turned in to the Department of Mathematics main office by the end of the fall semester. At the end of the semester, the chair of the math department will receive an invitation to send the top problem solver at our university to the U.S. National Collegiate Mathematics Championship held in Denver, Colorado during MathFest 2018. If you're up for the challenge, check out the problems and have a go at them!

If you have any questions about the competition, you can contact Zachary Kourtakis, secretary of the WSU Math Society, at
