WSU geology students receive 2005 departmental awards
Three outstanding Wayne State University students were recently recognized for their academic accomplishments.
Lauren Beavon and Stephen Chumney received the 2005 Department of Geology Undergraduate Student Merit Award. Lauren received her B.S. in Geology from Wayne State in December 2005. Steve will be graduating with a B.S. in Geology in May 2006.
Jason Jweda received the 2005 Department of Geology Graduate Student Merit Award. Jason received his B.S. in Geology from Wayne State in August 2004 and is currently enrolled as a graduate student in our department. His graduate research involves the use of atmospherically-delivered radionuclides to determine sediment resuspension rates in the Clinton River of southeastern Michigan.
These awards are presented annually to undergraduate and graduate students with exemplary academic achievement and are commemorated on a recognition plaque in the departmental office. Lauren, Stephen and Jason join a group of exceptional WSU Geology alumni who have proceeded to further distinguish themselves in their academic and professional careers.
