Geology Student Athlete Earns Fencing Honors

Katarzyna Kuzniak received All-American Honors on Wayne State University's fencing team, contributing to the second consecutive 10th place national finish at the 2006 NCAA Championship. Kasia, who is Wayne State's lone competitor in the women's saber, compiled a 7-2 mark on the second day to finish in 12th place, earning honorable mention All-America honors. During the round-robin five-touch bouts on day two, Kasia defeated the 2004 Olympic champion. Kasia is a senior majoring in geology who plans to attend graduate school and a career in petroleum exploration. She is an international student from Poland who attends WSU on an athletic scholarship.
