Dave Lowrie receives AFMS honorary award

Dave Lowrie, WSU geology department academic services officer (and jack of all trades) was honored by the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies as the 2005 honorary awardee.

This award is given to a member of the Midwest Federation Mineralogical Society in recognition of distinguished service to its member societies. The award comes with the privilege of selecting a graduate student who will receive a two-year scholarship grant from the A.F.M.S. for study at Wayne State University.

Dave has been an active member of the Michigan Mineralogical Society for many years and has provided many WSU geology department students with the opportunity to participate in mineral exhibitions and related society activities.

Dave recently learned that the AFMS Foundation will fund a second scholarship for a Wayne State University student beginning this fall.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Dave, and thank you for helping to provide yet another form of support for our students!
